THE BRITISH HOME RETIREMENT COMMUNITY FIRST IN METRO CHICAGO TO DEPLOY VOICE-ASSISTED CARE

Voice-assisted care will direct more time to resident care, deliver higher levels of documentation accuracy and increase staff satisfaction

PITTSBURGH, OCTOBER 13, 2008 - Vocollect Healthcare Systems, Inc. announces that The British Home Retirement Community (The British Home), located in Brookfield, Illinois, is the first in metro Chicago to deploy AccuNurse® voice-assisted care. As part of its implementation, nearly 100 of its staff will be empowered with voice to care for residents.

According to John Larson, chief financial officer of The British Home, the decision to implement AccuNurse voice-assisted care begins with its staff and residents. “We’re proud to be the first facility in metro Chicago to implement AccuNurse,” said Larson. “Part of our strategic plan is to use technology to make operations more current and efficient. Our goal is to move away from paper-driven processes and documentation.”

AccuNurse voice-assisted care enables the following processes: real-time access to information and other staff; the elimination of paper-based printouts for managing care needs and documentation; the ability for caregivers to make decisions more accurately and quickly; and, the ability for the care team to multi-task while documenting care, thereby improving productivity.

“Voice-assisted care will direct more time to resident care, deliver higher levels of documentation accuracy, and increase staff satisfaction,” said Julie Adduci, administrator for The British Home.

Voice-assisted care will also help position The British Home as an ‘employer of choice’ in the long-term care industry. According to Marie Bolson, director of human resources for The British Home, “Our staff is excited to have the opportunity to use the most advanced care solution in the industry, so much so, in fact, that one of them recently turned down another job offer and decided to stay with The British Home because we were employing this technology.”

According to James Quasey, president of Vocollect Healthcare Systems, “The tightening competitive landscape in long-term care is driving the need for advanced solutions like voice-assisted care to improve quality of care through operational efficiency. The British Home has been providing care since 1920; however, its decision to embrace voice proves it is a progressive organization. Care staff will get real-time communication and documentation, and have more time to devote to residents. And the organization will achieve competitive and financial advantage as an employer of choice with voice at the core of its direct care initiatives.”
